Press Release - HorrorNaments wins Featured Product Showcase at the Halloween & Party Expo!
Halloween & Party Expo Brings Together the Industry’s Best in New Orleans
Shelton, CT (January 24, 2017) – As Halloween & Party Expo came to a close, the feedback from New Orleans showcased strong buying activity for the upcoming year, both from domestic and international buyers. This year’s event was held January 14-17, 2017, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
With over 350 exhibitors on the floor debuting new lines for year-round costuming, party and celebration, Halloween and Party Expo buyers fulfilled their buying goals, discovered new trends, and found new merchandise to set their stores apart from the competition. In addition to the product debuts, special networking events and education sessions rounded out the 2017 experience.
“Our exhibitors have reported strong pockets of buying activity during the show, and many have opened new accounts,” said Mike Carlucci, Urban Expositions senior vice president of specialty shows. “With our renewed focus on the overall experience offered during Halloween & Party Expo, top buyers from the industry were in attendance.”
With products taking center stage, the event provided new visual experiences for buyers to see hot products debuting this year. The newest event experience, the Haunted Trends Runway and Lounge, provided the perfect backdrop to host 16 live fashion shows and product demos on the exhibit floor from Dreamgirl, Smiffy's, California Costumes, Brilliant Reflective, Disguise, Eurofins Product Testing, Rubie's, Ghoulish Productions, and Trick or Treat Studios. During these live shows, Halloween & Party Expo awarded buyers over $4000 in merchandise credit in an effort to further support the buyers in attendance this year.
"This years' show was very successful for us," said Maxine Andrews, VP of Sales for the USA for Smiffy's. "We wrote more orders than ever before, and we had many new inquiries and many new customers who wrote orders. We also saw great value in the partnership with the Party Club of America and having their show co-located with Halloween & Party Expo."
The Featured Product Showcases provided elegant displays along the main aisles, showcasing the breadth of products found throughout the exhibit hall. With voting taking place Saturday and Sunday, buyers cast their votes for the best products at the show this year: first place winner and first-time exhibitor Horrornaments took home the top honor; runners-up Rubies and Wild Ideas took home second and third place.
Jim Burns of Horrornaments commented, “As a first-time exhibitor, I was thrilled to be voted the best product at Halloween & Party Expo. The Halloween industry is a new segment for my business, and the feedback from buyers and the number of new accounts we opened made our first show a success. We will definitely be back in 2018.”
The education program on the show floor provided buyers opportunities for quick pop-up sessions in between appointments and was presented by the Independent Retailer Conference team. Speakers this year included Square, Yelp, Refund Retriever, SellerActive, RMSA, and Party & Paper Retailer with conference MC’s Rich Kizer and Georganne Bender of Kizer & Bender Speaking.
The talk of the event was the annual opening networking party held at Generations Hall, The Brewing Boos and Booze. This year’s costume ball allowed all attendees and exhibitors a night to celebrate the industry and enjoy the company of one another with New Orleans as the perfect backdrop.
